Dr. Richard J. Scaldini - founder and president of Spearpoint Strategy Advisors - has enjoyed successful careers as a college president, investment banker, professor of literature, and management consultant (See Management). A cogent, humorous, and persuasive speaker, he is able to make thought-provoking connections among a wide range of contemporary issues.

Drawing on first-hand experience in the arts, the global capital markets, management, and higher education, Dr. Scaldini shares with his audiences the insights gleaned from a career positioned at the intersection of creativity, learning, and competitiveness. The following are a few of the topics on which Dr. Scaldini has spoken:

Ø Education for Global Competitiveness

A college president and global executive talks about what the student must glean from college in order to compete in a global competitive environment. How should college prepare the student for a world where learning is a continuing obligation; careers are multiple; change is near-constant; and knowledge is a competitive resource?

Ø Leadership Intellect:  The Global Challenge

What constitutes the globally competitive leader?  An education and business executive describes the global leader as a diverse intellect working the levers of technology, management, diversity, culture, and innovation for competitive advantage.

Ø Strategic Planning That Lasts

Effective planning is not only about thinking up good ideas, but also about building those ideas into day-to-day operations, winning employee participation, and linking the plan to performance. An experienced CEO talks about converting goals into plans, operations, responsibilities, and the company culture.

Ø The Arts:  Engines of Economic Development

An arts scholar. educational leader and business executive makes the case for the arts as an essential component in workforce development, economic growth and global competitiveness.

Ø A Sonnet Symposium: Let Me Count The Ways

Rigorously designed in structure, rhyme and meter, these short, intense poems have inspired writers from Dante to Baudelaire to E.E. Cummings. Sonnets are to poetry what the homer was to Ruth, the fugue to Bach, the knock-out to Ali, and the cut-out to Matisse. A feast of romance, revolution, reflection, and ribaldry - all in 14 line servings.
