Spearpoint Strategy Advisors makes a special commitment to the arts.
Dr.
Richard J. Scaldini, founder and president of Spearpoint, has taught and published in the
fields of French and Comparative Literature. He serves as a director of the Connecticut
Arts Alliance, which advocates for the arts community with the state
legislature. He also participates in a volunteer committee of artists,
educators, and arts administrators working to develop a model arts curriculum
for the Torrington Schools.
As a member
of the Commission on Culture & Tourism’s Peer Advisor Network, Dr.
Scaldini works with arts organizations in need of strategic and management
consulting services. He welcomes the opportunity to bring his nonprofit and
business experience to bear for the benefit of those committed to the arts.
Dr.
Scaldini believes that the arts community embodies a precious resource unique
to Connecticut. Moreover, he holds that the arts constitute an economic engine that
is fundamental to our state’s national and global competitiveness. In his article The Arts: Neglected Engines of Economic Development (Litchfield
County Times, July 24, 2009), Dr. Scaldini makes the case for engagement
with the arts as a critical educational experience and an instrument of
workforce development.
As a
member of the Northwest Connecticut Arts Council, Dr. Scaldini
participates actively in the cultural life of the Northwest Corner. In his work
with the CT Arts Alliance, he has joined his colleagues in testifying
before the appropriations committee responsible for approving the Culture and
Tourism budget. He also keeps the arts community in his area
apprised of relevant developments in Hartford.
Spearpoint welcomes
inquiry from artists and arts organizations seeking advice on how to create
sustainable operations and navigate today’s difficult economic waters.
